New Friends Chapter at Otay Ranch

The Otay Ranch branch library, which has drawn crowds and rave reviews since its opening in April 2012, now has something else to brag about: its very own chapter of the Friends of the Chula Vista Library.

A board was elected in September and is dedicated to supporting the new branch with volunteers and fund-raising activities. As its first activity, the group will hold used book sales in conjunction with the Otay Town Center farmers' market, with proceeds earmarked to support library programs and services.

The Otay Ranch branch, located in the food pavilion at Otay Ranch Town Center, serves more than 10,000 visitors each month, with 60 to 90 children and parents attending its regular story time events. Library staff hope to expand services into an adjacent storefront before the end of the year.
